Why Is Cancer Killing Our Pets?
|
|
In the U.S., cancer is the second leading cause of death in humans, but the number one killer of pets,
primarily cats and dogs.
All of us are concerned about making sure our children and pets are not exposed to poisons and so
we take special precautions to ensure toxic substances are stored safely. The trouble is common
household products and plants can poison your child or pet.
Every second someone in Canada or the United States is poisoned. 40% of these cases involve
children while an additional 20% involved pets. In 80% of these poisonings common household
products or plants were the cause of the poisoning. It’s a pretty alarming rate! So what are the main causes?
All purpose cleaners, degreasers, glass cleaner, dish washing detergent, bug sprays, oven
cleaners, ant bait, and antibacterial cleaners, air fresheners, drain cleaners, mildew remover,
medications, antibacterial cleaners, and even cosmetics. All of these pose a risk of poisoning a child or pet.
Keeping your children and pets safe is unquestionably a number one concern for all parents.
By understanding what ingredients in products found in your home and plants are harmful to
your pets and children you will be better equipped to make good decisions.
With today's increasingly toxic environment, our pets are coming down with serious and
inexplicable health problems. In many cases, the reason for our animal's health problem
is due to an overload of toxins entering the dog's body via his paws, breathing cleaning
and other chemicals in your home or kennel, from chemicals sprayed on your lawn, in parks,
on golf courses, everywhere you take your dog there are toxic chemicals.

Household Cleaning Products
|
|
The statistics are astounding. Household disinfectants account for 93% of severe poisonings
among young children.
When you use toxic cleaners, the chemicals stay in the air for hours, even days, and you
and your family breathe them into your body. The residue left behind by these chemicals are
also toxic to anyone who touches or uses the surface where the chemical residue is left.
Petrochemicals can be absorbed through the skin and scalp, and then human organs and tissues -
and over time these chemical agents can lead to nerve, liver and brain damage, birth defects,
acute asthma, and cancer - Shocking, but true.
Experts say the average household contains anywhere from 3-25 gallons of toxic materials,
most of which are in cleaning products. There is no government law that requires manufacturers
of cleaning products to list ingredients on their labels, or to test their products for safety.
Countless pets are poisoned each year, either suffering a sudden illness or death or
encountering toxins on a daily basis that erode their health slowly and shorten their
lifespan. Illness does not occur without cause.
Veterinarians are treating more and more cases of cancer in animals, as well as increased
numbers of behavioral problems and poisonings. Household cleaners, shampoos can be extremely
toxic to pets, as can common bug sprays and garden pesticides.
Pets inhale higher concentrations of these toxins based on their given body weight, not to
mention what is absorbed through there skin.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission identified 150 chemicals in the home that have been
linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities. The Consumer
Product Safety Commission concluded that cleaning products are some of the most dangerous
substances in the home.
A 1985 EPA report concluded that the "toxic" chemicals in household cleaners are three
times more likely to cause cancer than air pollution.
The words caution, warning and danger indicate that the product's ingredients are harmful.
Many products on the shelves today claim to be safe, yet have warning labels. If a product
is safe why do they need to warn you of danger? If it is affecting our health in this way
imagine what it's doing to our pets.
Pesticides are potentially harmful to human health and the environment. Pesticides can be
found in disinfectants and sanitizers and that is why they must be registered with the EPA.
Over half of the poisoning incidents related to pesticides involve your children and pets.
Cancer rates have increased since 1901 from only 1 in 8,000 Americans, to 1 in 3 today!
By the year 2010, this disease will afflict 1 of every 2 individuals!
